What is it? It's just like acupuncture only without the needles!!! The same healing effects are benefiting the animal and helping them move toward more wholistic wellness. It can treat emotional and physical issues.
Marci grew up in a little town in Iowa. Her family lived in the country with chickens, horses, and dogs! Marci's Mom had a huge garden in the back of their old farmhouse where she grew all the vegetables the family of 6 needed to live on. Each evening as her Mom came home from work, Marci would go out back with her Mom and pick whatever veggies were needed for the evening meal. During the day in the summertime, Marci would find herself roaming the countryside near her home, playing in nature, the creek, the pasture, the field, picking wild mushrooms, rhubarb...running free with her dogs. Growing up in the midwest, with strong family and work values, gave her the foundation and love for nature, animals and people that has made her passionate about life. After moving to Florida in 1979, Marci began another phase of living that involved the beach life! She continued to love the outdoors and the activities involved in being outdoors. So she decided to pursue an education in the exercise field. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in exercise physiology from the University of North Florida, Marci started her career at the fitness center of San Jose Country Club, beginning as a personal trainer and special programs coordinator then eventually moving into the directorship. Later she was involved in sales and continued her career at the Jacksonville Beaches as a Licensed Massage Therapist certified in Neuromuscular therapy. In the meantime, she began to experience the beautiful path of Yoga. Discovering what a deep sense of connection she intuitively had with the beliefs of yoga she pursued a 200 hour certification in Kripalu Yoga. She happily completed her training and is now a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. With additional certifications in Pilates, Spinning and her extensive education of the body, she believes the key to staying healthy and happy is building a foundation of openess, strength and stability in the mind and the body. She follows the theory of an integrated and BALANCED approach to living where “most things in moderation” applies; she emphasizes the mind/body/spirit/nature connection with breath work to keep the body healthy, the mind clear and the spirit free!
About Massage Therapy...
Massage Therapy is a highly underrated form of therapeutic healing of the body and it's muscles, organs and systems. Surprising to many, massage directly affects the lymphatic, circulatory and in some cases respiratory systems of the body. How? By manually manipulating the tissues, including the muscles, tendons, ligaments, organs and FLUIDS of the body. So often, a client will come to me for treatment without realizing the true benefits of massage. They typically come in needing to de-stress, release tension or for minor aches or pains. My goal is to treat, educate and empower my clients so that they understand the true therapeutic effects of massage, how they can re-train their bodies and live pain free active lives. Many people complain of "mirgraines"....well, in truth, there are fewer people walking around with true migraines and many more people living with trigger points in muscles that create terrible headache-like pain. These trigger points can also cause dizziness, nausea and sensitivity to light. The muscles are very powerful parts of our bodies that have yet to be truly recognized by the medical mainstream as valid causes of so much acute and chronic physical problems. The type of therapy I specialize in is called Neuromuscular Therapy. I am certified in this type of therapy that treats trigger points that create referred pain as well as muscular imbalances and postural distortions. Trigger point "pain" or associated symptoms can also be shown in the body to be such things as ringing or tones in the ears, itching, tingling, numbness and also, dull aching or sharp shooting pain.
